Benefits

The following is a brief overview of the benefits available to employees of LCFS of Michigan.

  • Medical Benefits

     

    Comprehensive coverage of medical benefits for employee, spouse and eligible dependents.  Employees are required to pay a portion of their health care costs.  Cafeteria of medical plans offered through Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Michigan, Blue Care Network, Health Plus, and HAP.  HAP and Health Plus are offered in only certain geographic regions.  Medical benefits begin the first day of the month following date of hire to employees who regularly work a minimum of 30+ hours..

     

    Dental Benefits

     

    Dental plan offered through Delta Dental for employees, spouse and eligible dependents.  The dental plan pays 50% coverage for most dental services with a maximum benefit of $600.00 per person, per year.  The Agency generally pays 100% of the dental insurance.  Dental benefits begin the first day of the month following date of hire to employees who regularly work a minimum of 30+ hours.

     

    Medical Insurance Waiver

     

    If an employee is covered under another health insurance plan, they can elect to waive insurance coverage and be reimbursed by the Agency for $1,000.00 per year.

     

    Life Insurance, Accidental Death and Dismemberment

     

    This insurance is provided to employees who work a minimum of 20+ hours and begins 90 days after the employees hire date.  The life insurance policy provides for double your annual salary while employed with LCFS of Michigan and ½ of your annual salary after  retirement up to a maximum of $25,000.00.  The premiums for these policies are paid in full by the Agency.

     

    Worker's Compensation Insurance

     

    Employees are covered by Worker's Compensation Insurance if they are injured on the job.  This insurance is paid for by the Agency.

     

    Family Medical Leave

     

    Employees who have been employed by LCFS of Michigan for a minimum of twelve months prior to the beginning of the requested leave and who have worked a minimum of 1,250 hours during the previous twelve months are eligible for up to twelve weeks Family Medical Leave during a twelve month period of time.

     

    403B Savings Plan

     

    An employee can elect to have pre-tax payroll deductions made to a 403b savings plan.  It is the employees responsibility to set-up the plan with a provider of choice.

     

    Holidays

     

    The Agency has eight paid holidays annually.

     

    Personal Day

     

    Employees receive one personal day per calendar year.  Part-time employees will have their personal day prorated based on the number of hours worked per week.  Employees hired October 1st or after in a calendar year are not eligible for a personal day in that calendar year. Personal days cannot be converted to cash at the end of the year.

     

    Vacation Leave

     

    Employees who work a minimum of 10 hours per pay period are granted vacation credit staring with their six-month anniversary.  Vacation credits range from two weeks to four weeks depending on job classification and years of service.  Vacation credits are prorated for part-time employees.  On an employee's anniversary date they can only carry over 1 and ½ times their annual vacation time.

     

    Sick Leave

     

    Employees receive 8 hours of sick credits per month after their third month of employment.  Sick credits are prorated for part-time employees.

     

    Flexible Spending Plan

     

    Employees who work a minimum of 20 hours per week and have been employed by LCFS of Michigan for a minimum of three months are eligible to set aside pre-tax dollar amounts for medical or dependent care expenses they occur.  The IRS determines the maximum dollar amount that can be set aside.

     

    Pay Days

     

    Pay Days are bi-weekly on Fridays.  There are 26 pay days in a calendar year.  You can elect to have your paycheck or a portion of it direct deposited at the bank of your choice.
