Substance Abuse Counseling

The LCFS counseling department in Oak Park provides a substance abuse and criminal recidivism counseling for adults who have been recently paroled or are on probation.  Our therapists are trained in providing Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and assessing clients using the latest approaches in the field of substance abuse.  Therapy for the parolees and probationers include individual and group therapy that is client-centered and solution-focused.  An eight week non-therapeutic insight group is also provided to assist clients with substance abuse issues. This program is specifically geared toward marijuana use and is also provided by our trained staff master’s level staff.  Goals of treatment include:

-          Abstinence from drugs and alcohol
-          Increased involvement in the community by connecting clients with local resources (AA/NA and other Fellowship programs)
-          Employment resources (clients who successfully complete our program receive a Michigan Rehabilitative Services referral)
-          Empowerment to self-actualize and achieve a higher level of functioning
