  • FGDM, FSP/FI
  • Family Group Decision Making (FGDM) is an alternative to placing abused and neglected children into foster homes. Participating families meet with our staff and organize a family group conference. This meeting usually involves extended relatives, friends, and professionals of the family's choosing. The family creates their own action plan to remedy the situation that placed the child at risk. FGDM works with the family for up to one year following this meeting to provide support in the implementation of the plan.

Family Support Program (FSP) and Family Intervention (FI) are programs which work with families up to six months on a variety of issues affecting the well-being of their children. FSP is often used as a less intensive "step-down" to Families First and a way to continue positive progress. FI is less intensive than Family Support and provides similar services. Families can receive help with a variety of issues including learning new parenting skills, budgeting, locating and/or maintaining suitable housing, developing a social support network, and employability skills.
